CHUCK BERRY: HAIL, HAIL THE KING OF ROCK 'n' ROLL

One-hour music-intensive radio special celebrates the unforgettable music of Chuck Berry.

Berry plays his biggest hits backed by Keith Richards, an all-star backup band, and guests Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, Linda Rondstadt, Etta James and Julian Lennon. Interview subjects include John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Bo Diddley, Little Richard, and Chuck Berry, himself.

This once-in-a-lifetime gathering of rock greats honored Berry on his 60th birthday at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis in 1986, and was captured by director Taylor Hackford for his film, Chuck Berry: Hail, Hail Rock 'n' Roll.

Hackford hosts this hour of live music, rehearsal sessions, and insider interviews from both the original film and the bonus materials unearthed for the multi-disc DVD reissue, in stores on June 26, 2006.

June 27th is the release date of the DVD for "Hail! Hail ! Rock and Roll!" The film was ostensibly about Chuck Berry. It also was the beginning of Johnnie Johnson's rise from obscurity. The film began the process by which the public began to learn the truth about Johnnie’s role in the creation of the songs credited to Chuck Berry, and in the creation of Rock and Roll itself. Johnnie passed April 13th, 2005, at the age of eighty.. The public is still learning about him. There is still a lot to tell, and a lot more for people to learn about Johnnie Johnson.

To honor Johnnie Johnson, on June 27th, Cousin Moe Music will offer free downloads from Johnnie's final solo recording project, "Johnnie Be Eighty! And Still Bad!". The downloads will be available free until July 8th. Johnnie’s date of birth. The music will be available at our website, www.cousinmoemusic.com

Also added to the website is a great audio interview with Johnnie’s wife Frances. The interview was held June 19, 2006.

“Johnnie Be Eighty. And Still Bad!” is a completely original project. As such it offers a unique perspective on Johnnie’s collaborating and songwriting contributions. It was taped live in the studio to capture the essence of a Johnnie Johnson performance.
